Our Rector – Fr. Bill Mok

Fr. Bill Mok serves as the rector of St. Alban’s Anglican Church in Richmond.

Born in Guangzhou, China, Fr. Bill immigrated to Canada at the age of seventeen and completed his secondary education in Vancouver. He later studied electrical engineering at McMaster University, where he encountered the Christian faith during his first year. After graduation, he worked as a software engineer for seven years in both Canada and the United States.

A Journey of Two Worlds: From Logic to Spirit

Fr. Bill’s journey has been shaped by bridging different worlds—between logic and spirit, profession and vocation, and cultures and communities.

What began as a path in engineering gradually became a calling toward ministry and community. In 2005, he entered Tyndale Seminary to pursue a Master of Divinity in Pastoral and Chinese Ministry, marking a transition from building systems to building relationships and spiritual communities.

A Journey of Ministry and Service

Following his theological training, Fr. Bill served in a variety of ministry contexts, including community churches and Anglican parishes in Ontario. His ministry has spanned different Christian traditions, languages, and cultures—including Mandarin-speaking, Cantonese-speaking, multicultural, and local Canadian communities.

Ordained as a deacon in June 2015 and as a priest in November 2015, he served as Incumbent of St. Elizabeth’s Anglican Church in Mississauga, where he focused on nurturing a welcoming and vibrant parish life.

In 2020, he returned to the West Coast to serve at St. Chad’s Vancouver. During this time, the community discerned a new direction, leading to what became known as the “Great Release” in 2022—an intentional step to reimagine ministry beyond the walls of the church and toward new forms of community.

Since September 2025, Fr. Bill has been serving as Rector of St. Alban’s Richmond.

A Vision for Community

Today, Fr. Bill’s ministry continues to focus on building a welcoming and inclusive community, where people can explore faith and grow at their own pace.

He is especially passionate about:

  • building welcoming and inclusive communities
  • connecting with those beyond traditional church settings
  • creating spaces for conversation, reflection, and support
  • integrating faith with everyday life

As Founding Pastor of the 360 Community, he seeks to create a spacious and gentle environment—a relational space where ancient traditions meet modern needs, and where listening is valued over prescribing.

Fr. Bill and his wife, Jenny, are the parents of two children.
